Growing from a collaboration project, LISA Collaborator Jonathan Stallings recently published an article in PNAS on a collaboration bibliometric. Phys.org provided a wonderful article summarizing the work.

On April 18th from 3:30-4:30 pm in 300 Seitz, Dr.Eric Vance, Director of LISA (Virginia Tech's Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis), presented a colloquium in honor of the International Year of Statistics entitled “LISA 2020 and Ut Prosim: Building statistics capacity in developing countries.”

LISA has received a grant from Google for our LISA 2020 project with the goal of training at least 20 statisticians to create a network of 20 statistical laboratories in developing countries by 2020.

In a recently published paper, Nigerian statistician Olawale Olushina Awe cites LISA as the example for African universities to follow as he calls for the establishment of statistical consulting centers and the training of young statisticians in consulting in all universities in Africa.
